How to read the global figures
Total market capitalisation is the sum of every tracked asset's price multiplied by its circulating supply. It is a size measure, not a measure of money invested — a thinly traded token with a large supply can add billions to the total on very little real buying.
Dominance is one asset's share of that total. Rising Bitcoin dominance usually means capital is rotating out of smaller assets rather than that Bitcoin itself is rising; the two can move in opposite directions. Note that stablecoins appear in this ranking too, and their share tends to grow when traders move to the sidelines.
The market cap to volume ratio shows how many days of current turnover it would take to trade the whole market once. Lower numbers mean unusually heavy activity, which typically accompanies sharp moves in either direction.
DeFi market cap covers assets categorised as decentralised finance protocols. Its share of the total is a rough gauge of how much attention on-chain applications are getting relative to the market as a whole.
